Promoting Silk Scarves with Animation

What in the world's name do silk scarves have to do with animation? If the scarf in question is a Mary DeArment scarf, lots! Mary DeArment's designs are all made with hidden words. Remember Highlights, Baby Boomers? Remember Waldo, Millennials? Well, Mary has taken that timeless fascination with visual puzzles into the worlds of art and fashion.

Animations provide a visual translation of the hidden word. From crude to sophisticated, these animations engage and amuse.

Peace out of Darkness, one of the Peace Collection, was a heartfelt outpouring by designer Mary DeArment in response to recent terrorism. The message of world peace is communicated visually with the earth, incorporated into the animation.

This animation which appears in the program brochure for the Primetime Emmys reveals the thematic unity of the awards show: The Arts. The Circus scarf shown above has a similar palette.

Alternate methods of providing a visual translation are flip cards--or gift ornaments. These 4x4 cards on a ribbon are both charming and ornamental. However, animations have a timeless appeal. Remember watching cartoons as a kid? Animation is engaging and fun. Here is one more for the road!
