How to promote peace? Wear a peace scarf: Peace is Warm

Wanting to make an impact in the face of terrorism and refusing to succumb to the helpless feeling I always get when I hear of such attacks, most recently Paris and San Bernardino, I embraced the word peace. Designing scarves with a word is what I do, but making multiple designs with the same word is a new venture. Every time I sat down to draw I thought about the concept of peace and how a new design can embody it.

Peace is Warm: peace is first and foremost about people and relationships. If we can be warm in our everyday interactions we have added a bit of peace to our world. This design, like community, is a web, a network. Individuals look one way in isolation, but place them in a meaningful context (community) and they become part of a structure. Together each individual relies on its neighbors for stability. The inner E represents this symbolism: by itself, the E is not round, but when participating in a ring of Es together they form a circle. What is more, the newly created circle looks like a sun. The other elements of peace radiate surround that inner sun.
